Macular degeneration is the number one cause of age related blindness in the world.
The incidence of macular degeneration continues to increase among aging Americans.
This is a persistent condition that in 74 percent of all cases is age related.
50 percent of people who have a relative that is suffering from this problem will
develop macular degeneration. While the genetic connection of this disease is the most prevalent, there is evidence that high blood
pressure, cardiovascular disease, and a long time diet that is greater than 40 percent fat are also contributing factors.
You do not have to pay for your treatment up front,
although you will probably be asked to pay 50 % on the day
of treatment followed by monthly installments.
It is possible with Lasik treatment to have both eyes done at the same
time, but this depends on whether this form of laser
treatment is suitable for you. If you wear soft contact lenses you should
not wear them for at least three days before you have your
initial assessment or before treatment. If you wear gas permeable lenses you should not wear them for a month
before the initial consultation or the treatment.
